“A new command I give you; love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
How does the world know that we are the disciples of our Lord Jesus? Jesus says that the world will recognize him in the love that we show to one another. What a privilege it is both to give that love to another and also to receive that love of Christ from someone else.
In the Stephen Ministry we have two people showing the love of Christ to the world. One person is called the care giver. This person walks with another in times of stress or trouble or grief. As the care giver helps to carrythe burden of another , we recognize our loving Savior and we know that he is there with us. The second person is called the care receiver. The care receiver welcomes and accepts the love of Christ through the relationship with the care giver. As people of God, we must both give care and receive care. When we care for one another we love as Jesus loved and by this all people will know that we are truly his disciples.
