Great Beginnings Preschool is a place for preschool age children and their families to see faith, hope, and love translated into an exciting experience of discovery and learning. It is a place where each child is treated as a unique, special, and loved person because all children are made in the image of the Creator.

Because this is a Christian preschool, the socialization process and learning of physical and mental skills are fully integrated around the central belief that all of life and learning is good and comes as a gift from a loving God. Teachers and staff model this belief in the way they live, instruct, and relate to the children and their families.

The best foundation for life is built by a strong partnership between the home, the school, and the church. This commitment to community is demonstrated by special events, cooperation, and open communivation. Our goal is not just to nuture children, but to nuture and strengthen the family units from which they come. Our desire is that children who complete this program will enjoy learning and will be better prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges that they will face.

We are now accepting applications for Fall 2008. Contact Carol Shortlidge, Preschool Director, for details at 610-444-4592.

Curriculum

Our curriculum strives to create a balance between directed activities and free play. Learning through play, music, projects, art, group activities, story time, and field trips will encourage a positive attitude for learning and promote readiness for school. Biblical principles are incorporated into our units and themes. Our daily routine will include Bible stories, prayer and Christian music.

Sensory, motor, perceptual, math and language skills are developed through both child-centered and teacher-directed activities. Our curriculum emphasizes the process as well as the product of preschool education, fostering independent thinking, a sense of success, and self-worth.

Socialization is an important part of a child's day in preschool. The curriculum allows the child to develop social skills such as sharing, obedience, compassion, and trust. The groups are small so that individual attention can be given to each child.
