Breakfast with Bavinck
While an unknown name to many Christians today, the Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck was one of the greatest Christian thinkers of the nineteenth century, contributing much to modern Reformed theology. Bavinck succeeded Abraham Kuyper as professor of systematic theology at the Free University of Amsterdam in 1902. However, Bavinck was first and foremost concerned with being ‘a worthy follower of Jesus.’
Continuing our tradition of enriching our own Christian lives through the writings of those who have gone before us, this Fall we’ll be getting to know Bavinck and his writings through John Bolt’s book Bavinck on the Christian Life: Following Jesus in Faithful Service. We’ll discuss this book chapter by chapter on Saturday mornings from 9-10 a.m. at Liberty Market, beginning 14th October. Please let Andrew know asap if you plan to participate.
